New to this forum. I have a leyland 804 that I’m restoring and the pto shaft seal is leaking. I went to replace it and thought it was just a matter of letting off the ring of bolts on the housing around the shaft itself and pulling out the shaft and housing together. Not the the case. Does anyone have more information on how to remove the shaft to replace the seal?? Thanks.

Hi, to replace seal you need to remove the complete hydraulic unit, ie. the heavy cast back end cover. Because of the 540/1000 speed drop box inside this is the only way I could replace the seal in mine. Good bit of work to strip it down compared to a standard 540 speed backend.
