Power steering

Post by Sanderson T2 » Sat May 02, 2020 2:23 pm

Hi I’m after some thoughts, we are in the process of rebuilding a 802 from many different tractors, 802 gearbox and rear end and cab front axle from a 285, plus six cylinder engine from Massey 3080.
Due to the power steering pump drive off the engine been occupied by the main hydraulic pumps, could I use a priority valve to get an oil flow to feed the steering orbital? If so would I need to fit a relief valve or is there one in the orbital.
Any thoughts welcome

Hi, not 100% sure but i think the pressure relief valve is between the pump and the orbital unit. It should be possible to use a priority valve with a relief valve returning to the tank, or mount a belt driven pump for the power steering with a double crank pulley
