BMC 4/25

Post by CNR » Sun Jun 02, 2019 4:19 am

 I bought a 1968 BMC Petro 4/25 tractor. It only ran for a few seconds when I got it. I asked questions about getting it running on here. Ppl said check carb, check valve clearance, check spark plugs, check fuel pump, check cylinder compression. I checked all of that stuff. Nothing helped. I decided to change the points and condenser to electronic ignition. I got a hold of a company out of England, Simonbbc.com. We emailed back and forth til they got the info they needed to sell me the correct part. 38 British pounds. 43 US dollars. plus $8 shipping. Got it in 10 days. Removed the old point base. Bolted the new electronic ignition in the same hole. Plugs the wires in. Basically, plug and play, Very simple. Turn the key to start and it cranked right up. It runs great now. I drove it around the farm for a while.
I will suggest if anybody has any running issues. Go ahead and change the points and condenser to electronic ignition. I should have done it earlier.
Thank you,
CNR
