I've done bits and pieces to my 460 during the lookdown, fitted the relined brake shoes, and got her up and running

I'm well on my way in my work on the 460,new wiring loom in, starting with the key, putting on lights and rev counter. and I'm road legal now, insured registered and taxed. Going to flush out the diesel tank before I change the fuel filter, just wondering what about the modern low sulpher diesel? Our Ag diesel here in Ireland is dyed green and was thinking of adding some 2 stroke oil to the tank pictured here, any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Joe,

Excellent work thus far.

Re oil in the tank, I would personally advocate normal engine oil rather than two stroke oil.

Thanks Paul, I think I'll stick with the engine oil. How much should I add to a tankful of diesel? Half a pint?

Probably not even that. on the Petters I used to add a cap-ful for a one and a half gallon tank, so half a dozen capfulls, maybe a touch more. Too much and it'll make the engine produce excess soot.

Fitted a water temp gauge and brought it for a test run to heat it up, all good.

Another step along the way, got some more items from Charnleys among them a pair of foot steps. a lot easier to climb on board now.
