Leyland 272 PTO shaft bearing removal

Post by Dakotareynolds272 » Tue Mar 24, 2020 2:49 pm

Hello,

I'm sure there will be folks that say this is easy and I have an idea of the process, however I can't find any direction in the 272 manual I have. I removed the bearing housing and shaft from the rear of the tractor. I removed the nut and washer from the end of the existing Shaft. Do I need to remove the large snap ring inside by the large bearing? Does the smaller bearing and gear need to be pressed off the shaft? Can I trust the existing parts or should I replace the smaller bearing? Everything is in great condition except the PTO shaft itself is broken. Everything feels tight. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here are the pages from a later manual that show you how to do the job.

You are lucky you have the later type PTO system fitted!!
